Title: Connection
Recipient: Sanguinity
Vidder: ghost lingering
Music: The Reborn Identity, "The Elephant Connection" // mashup of Sarah McLachlan & The Elephant Man
Summary: Someday we'll find it.
Vidder Notes: Well, this was creepy. With apologies to elephants, John Henry, and, most especially, Kermit the Frog. [1]
Content Notes: Implied violence towards and around children, as per the show.

Link: Link to signed vid post.

[1] P.S. For the purposes of the credits: clearly if vid = baby then recipient = mother because it is her(/his) vid. (Gendered language becomes problematic here, I am aware; listen! I am just working with the tools that the show gives me ok, and what they gave me was an "I'm a boy!" baby name tag with a slot for the mother's name, rendering mother gender neutral in this specific instance because it means recipient. OR SOMETHING, IDEK, I HAVE BECOME WEIRDLY INVESTED IN THE RECIPIENT = MOTHER, BLAME MY CRAZY VIDDING EYES.) I, the vidder, am the mother's doctor because I made sure that the vid survived its gestation period. (Clearly the vid's (/baby's) doctor is the show from whence the footage came.) Which is to say, Sanguinity it is your turn now, you get to feed and clothe and start college funds and change diapers and take care of this thing because my work here is done. Vid is birthed, it's out in the world, which means that it is officially yours. NO APOLOGIES. EXCEPT TO KERMIT. I TAKE NOTHING BACK. ESPECIALLY NOT THE BABY. I MEAN VID.

OH THAT IS CREEPY AND WONDERFUL. I JUST. THE KIDS IN THIS SHOW. THE KIDS. KIDS. DEAR GOD, THE KIDS.

Savannah. And John who is both a kid and a protector of kids. (Oh, that school field trip! Sometimes he is SO DAMN YOUNG.) I love Savannah and John together, it just rips me all up inside with the protective everythings.

But I adore how much of this vid is Savannah-pov, and how she has seen TOO MUCH, and she may not understand it all, but she CERTAINLY UNDERSTANDS ENOUGH. And yet she still trusts, because she is little, and she HAS TO if she is going to survive. But that doesn't make it any less scary. Thank goodness there are SO VERY MANY people and robots looking out for her. Even if I sometimes have doubts about their ability to do so. (And definitely have mixed feelings about Weaver looking out for her, seeing as how Weaver killed her mother in the first place.) But it's not just Savannah-pov, ALL THE KIDS see too much, from that very first kid at the elevator doors.

OH. THIS SHOW AND ITS KIDS.

And never fear, dearest vidder, I'll start tucking away for that college fund now.

<3 Thank you so much, I am so glad you enjoyed this, creepiness aside.

I love Savannah so much and she's 100% the reason that I decided to go for a vid about the kids on the show. She sees things that adults don't and she has to figure out when to say what and who is going to believe her. (Kermit would believe her; he'd find a way to connect with humans and AIs, children and adults.)

Thank you so much! Savannah and the ducks is possibly my favorite moment in the whole vid. She's such a kid! And yet ...

The dreamers are definitely Terminators -- they have a vision of the future that we can't quite imagine. (Meanwhile, the lovers are Kyle and Sarah.)

Wowwww, that was incredibly unsettling. Grabbed me right from the beginning, great use of a moment that was just a humorous throwaway thing in the episode. :) It strikes me how children are often witnesses - like the elevator boy and Savannah with her "mother" - to things that they know are scary or strange but can't really verbalize why. I also liked the way you used the Cameron-killing-pigeon scene and the lion and other animal imagery contributed to the creepy circusy feel of the music. And of course, loved "the dreamers" both times. :)

Thank you so much! The kids see so much that the adults don't see on this show, which is fascinating to me -- glad that it came across. (And terminators are totally dreamers of course!)

Oh wow!!! What an amazingly creepy look at the way this show looks at the vulnerability (and lack thereof) of children (and other things that get cared for, like animals and robots). The song choice was perfect!

Thank you so much! Kids, robots, and animals are all fierce and vulnerable in their own ways, aren't they?

Oh this was awesome! The ducks and the dove! This show sure doesn't tread lightly around the kids. Nobody gets out of this without trauma. But yes, creepy awesome <3

Looks like I'm just repeating the chorus, but that was indeed delightfully creepy.

Thank you! Creepy is definitely the defining quality of this vid I think.
