Anonymity?

TSCC vidders!,

One thing we have to decide before I can give posting instructions for the vids is whether the vids should be anonymous when they first go live. The exchange will be "anonymous" in that you shouldn't tell anyone but betas, cheerleaders, etc. who you are vidding for until the vids are posted.

But the question here is whether the vids should go live unsigned, without the vidder's name for a week or two, in the way that Yuletide, festivids, and many other exchanges are anonymous when the works are first posted. Then a week or two after the vids first go live, vidders' names will be revealed and signed versions will be posted. The instructions for how to submit vids (unsigned and/or signed, as necessary) will be posted later, depending on how many people sign up and what we decide.

I don't promise to abide by the results of the poll, because it may just be easier not to have anonymous reveals. But it will be helpful to know what people prefer!

Hee! Almost no one has an opinion! In which case, I shall arbitrarily exercise my organizer powers and make an executive decision. But I have no strong opinion either! :)

Ha! Well, my thoughts are that what's cool about anonymity is that it puts lesser known vidders on equal footing with well known people, at least in terms of getting views. But in a small exchange where everyone will probably (? hopefully?) watch all the vids anyway, maybe that doesn't matter?

Anyway, I checked "no opinion", but I do think that if we do anonymous go-live, I'd like the vidder reveals to happen not too much thereafter, like within a week?

Yeah I agree with all of that. That's what I like about anonymity too, though I do agree that applies more to bigger exchanges. Given that this is such a small exchange, and a single-fandom exchange for a smallish but well-loved fandom, people will actually have *time* to watch everything if they want, as opposed to having so many vids that it's hard to know where to start. Since most people don't have an opinion, and given that I think there are downsides to anonymity--the guessing, in particular, I think cuts both ways, as well as the fact that it's more work for everyone and for mods (me!)--and that people probably won't be all THAT anon, given the smallness of the exchange, I'm probably leaning towards no anonymity? Which makes submission instructions pretty easy too, and I am all about the streamlined. :)
